Gezint is thrilled to announce the successful launch of our Breakfast Program across hospitals in London! This new initiative is designed to provide comfort and nourishment to patients and their families, ensuring no one is left out during their most challenging moments.

The program includes a variety of fresh milk options, including kosher and plant-based individual servings, making it easy for patients and visitors to take what they need back to their beds or share with family members. Additionally, we’re proud to offer freshly prepared sandwiches daily, including egg and tuna options, made lovingly by our dedicated volunteers.

These breakfast items are available in our respite rooms, which currently serve children’s wards, adult wards, and maternity wards—ensuring every part of the hospital community is supported. In addition, the program includes a selection of cereals in convenient individual packs. For this season alone, we have ordered 5,000 units of Kellogg’s small cereal packs to meet the growing demand.

To further enhance the support for patients and their families, Gezint has also introduced 24-hour tea and coffee stations, available free of charge at approved hospital sites. These stations provide a comforting and much-needed break for visitors and staff alike. Currently, tea and coffee stations are operational in six hospitals, and we are actively working on approvals and funding to expand to 11 more sites in the near future.

The primary goal of the Breakfast Program and tea/coffee stations is to provide relief to family members who are unable to leave their loved ones’ side. For example, a child accompanying their terminally ill mother can now find a haven in our respite rooms—a place to relax, take a break, and enjoy a nourishing meal or warm drink at any time of the day.

Gezint is also looking to expand these vital services to more hospitals, aiming to make breakfast items and hot beverages available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

We are calling for sponsors to join this mission and help us reach more hospitals and families. With your support, we can continue to provide these essential services to those in need.

Thank you to our volunteers, supporters, and everyone who has helped make these initiatives a success. Together, we are making a real difference in the lives of patients and their loved ones.

A Night of Appreciation: Gezint’s BBQ Evening for Volunteers and Staff

Last week, the Gezint team hosted a memorable appreciation evening and BBQ to thank our incredible volunteers and dedicated staff for their selfless commitment and tireless work throughout the year. Held in a warm, relaxed setting, it was a night of unity, gratitude, and celebration for those who quietly but powerfully uphold the mission of Gezint.

At the heart of Gezint is a network of volunteers who give generously of their time and energy, averaging over 120 hours of service each year. From stocking hospital pantries to preparing packages for families in crisis, their efforts go far beyond the expected. Some volunteers even travel up to 600 miles a year, ensuring that 17 hospitals and other sites across London remain fully stocked with essential kosher food, Tehillim, Siddurim, and chargers—available 24/7.

Each week, volunteers visit hospitals, soup kitchens, and our main packaging and distribution centre, where care packages are prepared for families facing real challenges—particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds or who have suffered the loss of a parent while in hospital. In these moments of crisis, Gezint doesn’t just drop off food—we step in personally, offering emotional and practical support to each family with compassion and dignity.

This BBQ was our way of saying “thank you” to those who keep this lifeline running. Volunteers shared stories, laughed together, and reflected on the meaningful impact they’ve made—not just in delivering meals or books, but in being present for others during their most vulnerable times.

The evening reminded us all that Gezint is more than a charity. It’s a family. A movement of compassion. A community dedicated to making sure no one faces hospital, hunger, or grief alone.

To every volunteer and staff member: we see you, we value you, and we couldn’t do this without you.

Here’s to another year of doing good, together.

A Giant Leap Forward: Gezint’s New Temporary Warehouse

As 2024 comes to a close, Gezint is thrilled to announce the opening of our new temporary warehouse. This step marks a pivotal moment in our journey to expand and enhance our services, ensuring we meet the growing needs of patients, families, and hospital staff across London. While not a state-of-the-art facility, this converted, run-down large house serves as a vital hub for our operations, tailored to meet our immediate needs. However, to truly achieve a facility that matches the scale and potential of our mission, we would require £300,000 in funding to build a purpose-designed, state-of-the-art warehouse.

A Place for Everything: The Warehouse Layout

Our temporary warehouse is carefully organized to maximize efficiency and accommodate the wide range of goods we handle daily. Here’s a glimpse of how we’ve structured our operations:

  • Storage Rooms:
    • Dry Goods Room: Stacked high with racks of non-perishable items such as crisps, pretzels, nuts, spelt and gluten-free crackers, rice cakes, and a diverse selection of pot noodles—a go-to for quick, warm meals. Special provisions include snacks for children and pureed food packs for patients requiring specific diets. These pureed options, available in 12 varieties, cater to both kids and adults with dietary restrictions.
    • Cold Storage: Featuring a meaty fridge stocked with salami snack packs, alongside another fridge for fresh milk, plant-based milk, and yogurts, ensuring all dietary preferences are covered.
    • Disposable Goods Room: Dedicated to essentials like paper coffee cups, sugar sachets, tea bags, jam, bottled water, plant-based milk, disposable cutlery, and personal hygiene products.
  • Packing and Distribution Hallway: Racks line the hallway with dry goods ready to be assembled into boxes for delivery to our respite rooms in hospitals. This area is a hive of activity as volunteers prepare packages to be distributed daily.
  • Volunteer Chill Zone: A cozy room furnished with sofas and games, offering a space for volunteers to relax and recharge. It’s also a gathering place for orphans who come after school for group activities and one-on-one counseling sessions. Volunteers and orphans share this inviting environment, fostering a sense of community and mutual support.

The Workforce Behind the Magic

Our warehouse is staffed by three dedicated managers who take turns volunteering to oversee operations, ensuring seamless delivery and organization. From receiving fresh and dry goods to stacking shelves and coordinating deliveries, their commitment drives our success. With 24-hour access, volunteers can pick up supplies to stock respite rooms around the clock.

What We’re Delivering

Gezint’s deliveries include:

  • Snacks and nutritious items for patients and their families.
  • Fresh milk, plant-based milk, and yogurts.
  • Individual tea and coffee sachets, complete with disposable cups and utensils.
  • Personal hygiene essentials for those staying by their loved ones’ sides in hospitals.
  • Special provisions for children and patients with specific dietary needs.

Expanding Our Vision: A Dedicated Packaging Room

Looking to the future, we hope to include a dedicated packaging room in our operations. This space would allow us to efficiently prepare and send off boxes of essential items to disadvantaged families, broadening our impact and building a robust outreach program. By streamlining this process, we can expand our services and provide critical support to even more individuals in need.

A Mission in Action

This temporary warehouse is not just a logistical hub but the backbone of our mission to provide comfort and care. Every item stored and distributed is a testament to the generosity of our donors and the dedication of our volunteers. Despite its limitations, this converted facility allows us to support our respite rooms across hospitals, ensuring that no one is left without access to the essentials.

Looking Ahead

As we gear up for 2025, we invite sponsors and supporters to join us in expanding our services. With your help, we can extend this life-changing initiative to even more hospitals, ensuring 24/7 access to nourishment and comfort for patients, families, and staff. To achieve our dream of a state-of-the-art facility, we need £300,000 in funding. This would allow us to create a space truly designed for the scale and ambition of our mission, ensuring Gezint can continue making a meaningful impact for years to come.

Thank you for being part of our journey. Here’s to a new year filled with hope, kindness, and continued impact!

Here, children and teenagers benefit from one-on-one counseling and personalized care, while also engaging in our programs that include preparing packages for those in need. Additionally, we have created a games room where participants can come by appointment to join in on the fun. However, we still need significant help with renovating the space, including painting, installing new flooring, and setting up cabinets. Your support can make a meaningful difference in enhancing our facility for these deserving young individuals.

June 2022

Each week, our dedicated volunteers deliver food, coffee, and essential supplies to respite rooms in hospitals, providing comfort to family members and friends of patients facing extreme hardships, such as terminal illness or extended stays for childbirth. These respite rooms offer a quiet space for reflection, rest, and nourishment, giving loved ones a chance to recharge while staying close to those they care for. In addition to food and beverages, we provide religious essentials, offering spiritual support and a sense of peace during emotionally challenging times. Our efforts aim to ease the burden on families, ensuring they feel cared for and supported during their hospital stays.

March 2022

During the pandemic, our dedicated volunteers took action to support those most affected, delivering food packages and essential supplies to individuals stuck at home. Whether it was shopping for groceries, picking up medications from the pharmacy, or even feeding pets while their owners were hospitalized, we made sure no one was left without help. Our services extended to the sick, the elderly, and overworked hospital staff who had little time to manage their personal responsibilities. Additionally, we provided local emergency service workers with vouchers, ensuring their families could purchase necessities while the breadwinners were unable to assist. Our commitment to caring for the community during this crisis made a difference in countless lives.

January 2022

During the pandemic, we launched a nationwide awareness campaign to support hospital and medical facility staff in their critical efforts. Our initiative aimed to raise awareness about the importance of public health measures while providing essential supplies and assistance to frontline workers. We coordinated the delivery of meals, personal protective equipment (PPE), and comfort items to hospitals across the country, ensuring healthcare professionals were supported as they cared for those affected. Our campaign also included educational outreach, promoting safety guidelines and reinforcing community solidarity during this unprecedented time. Together, we worked to protect both staff and patients in every corner of the country.

UCLH, in conjunction with the GEZINT organization, marks the opening of beautiful Kosher respite room for Jewish patients and their families. The room is based in the maternity wing unit, and supplies a wide variety of Kosher food and drink, and other Jewish essential items are stocked there as well. There is now a Kosher room available for Jewish patients, visitors and staff at Broomfield Hospital, kindly opened by GEZINT, in conjunction with the hospital Chaplains. The room was arranged following the rising need for Jewish Patients, whose only Kosher food source was an hour’s drive away from the Hospital.

In the midst of the Pandemic, in March 2021, my wife gave birth to a healthy boy in UCLH. Just a few short hours later; the joy was replaced with grief, when the news reached us that my dear Father had succumbed to Covid. My wife was understandably very weak and in pain following the birth, and was finally transferred to the ward late in the evening, hungry, exhausted and alone. It was a great relief when to her surprise, a nurse walked in bearing a tray filled with delicious food and refreshments from the Gezint room. The Gezint room was a true lifeline for us when we were in such a great time of need and it brought us such chizuk knowing that we were not alone in that difficult period.

I live in Westcliff-on-Sea and gave birth to a baby girl following an emergency C-section. Due to Covid regulations, the hospital did not allow any visitors, in addition to making a fuss about any outside food coming into the hospital. It was the Gezint Room that came to my rescue during my three-day hospital stay, with their amazing supply of microwavable goods, refreshments, food and drink.

When our Daughter, Sara was intubated and transferred to St Mary’s PICU on an early Friday Morning, the last thing on our mind was food. Shabbos was fast approaching, and the nearest Kosher food store was a forty-five-minute drive from the hospital. We were, thus, delighted to see that we can have a semi-normal Shabbos meal complete with challos, grape juice, fish, compote and even fake candles provided by the Shabbos cupboard! Thank you, Gezint, for providing us with our physical needs, in addition to bringing us a great sense of comfort in these turbulent times.
